Has anyone got any last minute travel deals? Where is the best place to get deals like that? I am wanting to take a little 3 day vacation next week-end and am trying to find some last minute travel deals on hotel/activities. I am located in southern CA so I would like to travel to somewhere nearby such as L.A or San Francisco, or Palm Springs. I have lived in cali all my life and have never been to those places. So, please give me your suggestions on where I should look for last minute (cheap) travel deals. I have looked on www.lastminutetravel.com and orbitz and didn't find much. It would be helpful if you have boughten last minute travels deals....please tell me about it!
Last minute travel plans for philippines? I got a last minute air ticket to Philippines - arrive Fri 22 dec at Clark, depart fri 29 from Clark. Any suggestions for where to go and stay? I'd like a couple of days in Manilla, maybe visit Taal for one day, but I'd love to go to Boracay or another island where I can snorkel or dive for a few days. Is it possible in the time on a limited budget? Any other nice beaches for snorkelling nearer Manilla? If I go to Boracay is it better to fly or go by ferry? Can I book tickets at the airport when I arrive? Any good budget hotels you'd recommend?
Last minute travel preparation tips for an American's first trip abroad in London? I called my bank/credit cards to let them know I would be out of the country, got my passport and plane tickets, booked my tours / hotel / transportation to and from the airport, got my "rail card" in advance for the tube/busses, and packed enough clothing for any type of weather I may encounter. Aside from the basics, would anyone have any other "last minute" tips to help me prepare for my first trip outside of the U.S.? Any absolute essentials as far as what to do or what to bring (especially that which cannot be purchased in London)? I leave in 2 days, so any last-minute advice would be greatly appreciated!
Question - Are there any REAL last minute travel web sites ? Talk about LAST MINUTE (LOL) - we were thinking of just going for 3-4 days to Vegas over thanksgiving holiday - I realize everything is pretty well booked up (flights and alot of hotels) - BUT - does anyone know of a REAL valid last-minute travel web site that truly finds unused airline seats and unbooked hotel rooms ? I have fiddled with Travelocity and some others which have "last minute deals" but honestly I am getting the SAME prices for flights/hotels as I did when I looked at the trip costs several weeks ago - so I don't see any discounts as they advertise 70% off and such. Any suggestions on search engines for last minute travel ? Thank you !!
last minute travel prices - All inclusive resorts? hello, I am planning on travelling during Spring Break (last week of march) and we were thinking about doing a last minute price. I have been doing research on various hotels and tours just trying to get an idea about what to do. Has anyone travelled this way and what were the prices compared to regular prices? I am looking into some resorts that are regular price around 1500 per week and am just wondering what the price difference would be if we did the last minute deal, whether they are approx. 200 or however much cheaper. We would be going at the end of march. We are not picky as to where we go or where we stay we just want to go away which is why we would be able to do the last minute deal. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Last minute travel reservation? Is it possible to walk into a hotel and make reservations that same night (if arriving around 10pm!) No motels either, something clean and decent. Will need double bed accommodation somewhere between NYC and Trenton, NJ on a weekday. We don't know when we are leaving and would rather not book in advance. Any advice?

Is Global Resorts Network better than YTB as both are travel businesses? I joined global resorts then found ytb. YTB seems to be an excellent business, but for last minute travel. It concentrates on hotel vacations, has an upfront cost & monthly fee. But I loved their owner's speech on the travel biz, & their site is excellent. Global Resorts Network is very new on the net, started dec 06. Its affiliated with a company that has been in business 20 years.. its the marketing arm. It has a onetime fee only, no monthly fees. Plus their market is different ... grn concentrates on luxury travel to 4 & 5 star resorts worldwide (though it covers hotels & does cruises & travel same as YTB) But you can book in advance with GRN (as well as up to 72 hours before a trip). They encourage you to call them for special arrangements. Their prices are better GRN owners setup Global Resorts because of timeshare experiences, as owners & sellers.Timeshares have maintenance fees & no travel choice Which biz do U like? http://www.globalresortsnetwork.shorturl.com
bali travel need last minute adivce from expert!!? am and my partner are going to bali for just 8 days, and booked hotel in jimbaren(one night), kuta (two nights) nusa du a (four nights), we wanna see ubud, lovina, and hopefully some experienced advice from you. just wonder how long is the travel time (bus/taxi) from kuta to jimbaren, from kuta to ubud, to lovina, to nusa dua? we are trying to fit a good time scheme before head off..your advices are highly valuable to us, so thank you!
Does anyone know when there are cheap travel deals for miami beach? I know so far that Travelocity is the cheapest to purchase last minute travel deals. I am leaving fron Toronto, and going to Miami. I would like to stay on the beach..the hotel I really like is Called Fontainbleu. Does anyone know when there are really good deals (seasonal) and if there are any other websites that are better than traveloctiy.?
What is cheapest way to travel from Chicago to Toronto? I have a chance of a life time to audition for a gig but since I found out about it today that gives me a week to plan. I've been able to book flights and hotels last minute because I was familiar with the area and knew the ins and outs but now I am entering unfamiliar territory. Bus, Amtrak, airlines with deals. This is the off season (I work in tourism/hospitality) so does anyone know of anything. Please no smart ass remarks or criticisms. Thanks. Amntrak is the way I'm going. $94 each way and takes about a day to get there.
Last minute deals... any good websites other than the obvious ones? We are a family of 4 and suddenly have a couple of weeks free and can travel for a week anytime between 12 and 18 july, which means before the big rush. I had hoped to find a good all-inclusive deal but the prices seem much the same now as they usually are. Apart from the obvious last minute dot com and travel supermarket, along with the travel agents own sites I didn't know if there was some other site that would be good. I can't believe that hotels and flights would rather be empty than sell the places and I don't really mind where we go as long as there is sun, sea and good food! the mian school holidays in UK do not start until the end of July - my kids break up 2 weeks before the other schools and so there is a big difference in costs between going now and going at the end of the month. *main! not mian... this is for holidays from UK - not US yes but scottish holiday makers don't usually fly from Gatwick and all the southern schools are still in school until 22-25 July
Should i book a hotel first or wait for discounted last minute rates? Hi, i will be travelling to hong kong in late oct for holiday. I have shortlisted a few cheaper options for hotels in TST like Mingle Place or Minden hotel but all the rates are not out yet and i was advised to check back again in early september. Coincendently there is a major exhibition fair going on during the period i'm visiting, hence most of the hotel rates are alot pricely then usual. Should i wait until sept and check back again to book the hotel so that can get discounted rates? Is it too late to book a room just one month in advance?
Reasonable but great hotel in NYC? I am looking on sites like orbitz, travelocity and last minute travel for a hotel in Manhattan. I need everybody's opinion! What is a great hotel that has a reasonable price?
I'm new at traveling and I need a last minute room this Friday! How? I need a room for 2 adults and one 4 year old this Friday in Eau Claire, WI, Stanley, WI would be better but anywhere in the area would be cool. This is so short notice and everyone seems to be booked. Should I drive around the city and find a spot? Hotels.com seems to charge for 2 days (Fri and Sat) when I only want to spend Friday night there. It would say room at $60 a night and you go to book it and it's $120! Do they charge per person or something? Is there a way to do this? She doesn't have internet and I don't have a credit card so would it be practical to go to the city and find a place, does anyone even do that anymore? Or shuld I call? What is the easiest way to do this? This is my first time traveling without my parents, even though I'm 21 now, and I have no clue where to start! Thanks Do websites say a place is booked and it's really not booked?
Poll - How do you make travel plans? Search online for best rates? What sites? Book with same hotel / airline every time? Use a travel agent? Wait for last minute deals? You don't have to pick one of the above, but please let me know your usual method of making travel plans. I am in the industry and am curious how most arrangements are made. If you use websites, please specify which ones. Thank You!
What's the best site to find last minute plane tix? I am trying to find cheap plane tickets for either next weekend or the weekend after next from either of these aiports: SFO, OAK, SJC and I'm travelling to STL I am looking for either a package deal (with hotel) or just the plane ticket for under $400. How can I save money on airfare? Book at the last minute? What? I need to go to Dallas this week but don't have a lot to spend. I've checked a couple sites like hotels.com and priceline, but I don't need a hotel or car. I just want a direct and inexpensive flight. I'm traveling from Atlanta. Any suggestions? Ideas?
Good holiday booking websites for London to Vegas? I'm looking to go from London to Las Vegas and would ideally like direct flights. Apparently Virgin are the only carrier who go direct. I'm struggling to find a reasonable price and was wondering if anyone can suggest any alternative websites for flight and hotel? I've tried: ebookers last minute travel bag expeida travelocity teletext holidays Am looking roughly £500-£600 per person for flight and hotel.
when traveling- can you get your dog vaccinated with all shots last minute? lets say you haven't had your dog updated with most of his shots/vaccinations, and you are traveling- and you will need papers (or you'll leave him the dog hotel), is it possible that you can have ALL SHOTS THAT ARE NEEDED OR AT LEAST MOSTLY REQUIRED done in ONE-1 day, and then will they accept it? or they only accept up-to-date (as in yearly) (btw they- as in dog hotels, canada border line inspectors, hotels, traveling, etc.) answers with people from experience, or only professionals as in employees of petsmart or mostly VETERINARIANS!!! thank you!
last minute, uninvited guests My SIL just called and left a message that she wants to bring her family to come and stay at our house for the weekend (arriving tomorrow-Friday-morning), because they are visiting friends and other family a couple of hours from us and we are on their way home (it's not to even "see" us, it is just to stay here to make their traveling easier). We actually have plans this weekend that will not happen if they are here, lounging, as they usually do. But, even if we didn't have plans, I just don't appreciate the last minute thing, not even letting us know that they were in the area or that they might just "like to see us" (is it that hard to be nice and at least let us THINK you like us??.). In general, there is already a lot of tension between our family and the IL's on this side of the family (my husband and I are well-educated with advanced degrees, have worked SO hard for all we have, and have done "well"...and there is always this expectation that we will pay for everything when they visit, etc, etc, and that we never need any help ourselves. Neither SIL or BIL work and they live with BIL's mother with their kids. Their entire existence is like modern day gypsies expecting everyone around them to provide for them). Being together this weekend is NOT going to contribute well to the stress levels and resentment at this point. We just do better doing our "own thing" (and prefer it, frankly). I am not interested in the "get over it and let them come...", etc. recommendations. I really need to know how to let them know they can't come this weekend, I need a good reason they can't come (because our planned activity will not be considered "important" enough to justify that they can't come-they'd expect us to cancel our plans for them). Also, that we wish they would have given us more notice, and that we're not a hotel/restaurant pit stop when they want to travel. We'd like to be treated with a little more respect in that area overall and want to convey that in our response. We just need some tact in our response, because that is how I was raised. We need a succint way to convey they can't come with a good, tactful reason to turn them away. Please help.
ladies could you please analyze it? girls i need your advice in some matter related to the woman attitude to some things about the guy. I am lost and can't think clearly since i am in love. I am 29 y.o. my g.f. is 26 y.o. We date for 6 months, started in April and around June she gave me an idea that she is ready to get married. We never spoke about it or anything like that, just she said she wants changes. Next month I offered her to go the seaside for a week, i booked the hotel and flights, paid for everything, and the last minute travel agent changed the hotel and notified me over the phone that our hotel will be further from the shore 120 feet than the previous one. It was not a big deal for me, but i called her and let her know about the changes and she said that she does not like it and i had to cancel everything last minute:( Another time we agreed that she will stay at my place for few days and she asked to cook smth tasty and etc - i did everything but she called and said she wants to go with her friend to comfort her friend's sister or smth like that.:( it all happened during summer. Now I'm finishing my physician's license exams and going to look for the residency training. I need a year and half to finish the preparations for my board exams but my gf presses on me. She says I am 29 and don't have anything in life. She says that I don't have a job and live with my parents. (even though i bought the house for my parents but I didn't tell her about it - I don't feel comfortable saying to that I did smth for somebody and etc, I just thought its my duty to say thanks to the parents for the possibility to have what i wanted). I don't live with my parents i just quit my job and stayed with them temporary so that i don't have to think of rents and etc and be able to concentrate on the exams and prepare for the residency training. She wants me to marry her next month or she will move to her sister in Italy, because as she says she feels she needs to change her life immediately. We only date for 4 months. I don't know what to do. Every time she and her Mama say that I don't have a job and don't do anything real and that she does not know what she found in me and that probably I am her punishment from God for her sins and that she is 26 and not in the position to choose or smth like this. I don't know what to think and to do. I feel bad without her and now she does not call for 3 days because i did not come to fix her pc on Tue.
Low prices hotels in new york ? hallo am planning to travel to new york at the last minute in the second week of september was wondering what hotels are low price where i could stay for two night for cheap ....i appreciate your answers thanks!!
I thought prices for hotels (Las Vegas) go up closer to the date of travel? Last year when I went to Las Vegas on a whim to watch the superbowl. I booked the rooms that Thursday at the Riviera on the north strip. I paid no more than $60 for the room we stayed in that Saturday the eve of super bowl. I thought I'd be smart about it this year and get the rooms in advance. However, the same room is going for $82 right now. Why is this? (Last year it was the same thing I looked up hotels months in advance and when I decided to go on a whim the rooms were cheaper last minute than if I had booked in advance.) Got a tip or advice? Obviously, I can afford the cheaper hotels the stratosphere or riv are right up my alley. thanks I
Mortgage approved then withdrawn at the very last minute for no apparant reason - Scotland!? Hi, basically, I used to live in Manchester, and after i got married i moved to glasgow. I workf or a company in Manchester, have done so since before I graduated, I work from home/on the road, basically I travel around Scotland as I am based here basically finding new clients and so on. I spend around 3 weeks in Glasgow and 2 weeks in Manchester (every month to month and a half). When I'm in Manchester I stay with my mother who looks after my child and i spend most of my time in the office. Anyway I earn around £2100-£2200 after tax a month. My husband is in the uk on a spouse visa, he works in a resteraunt based in a hotel, he's an assistant manager there and works 5pm - 12am 6 days a week, he earns around £1600 after tax a month, he looks after my son in the week days while I am working. Anyway just giving you some background info, I have a very active and good credit history. I applied for in a mortgage in my name alone for a property in scotland,as my husband is not a british citizen we could not add him to the application although we did tell Abbey (who we applied for the mortgage from) about him and that I was married. I am earning enough to cover the mortgage on my own so it was not really a problem not having his income on the application. We were putting down a deposit of £20700 (15%) . The property price was £138000 so basically we were getting a loan on £117300, I chose a fixed term of 36 months for which the payment was £742 which me and my husband can easily afford (we're currently paying £650 in rent). Anyway the loan got approved, i got an offer, we got the entry date, which was supposed to be today. Abbey initially asked for 3 months payslips which I provided to my broker he then sent them to Abbey. They approved the loan. Last Monday they rang me saying that we need more info from you so we are withdrawing the offer until we recieve this info. I got 3 months payslips, 3 months wage slips and my p60 which is all they asked for and the reason why my husband wasn't on the application, anyway I got this to my broker for Tuesday and he then faxed them to them by Wednesday. On Wed we were told we would get a decision on Thurs, on Thurs we were told Fri, Fri we were told Mon, Mon we were told Tues, Tues we were told Wed, Wed we were told Thurs, which was yesterday the day I was supposed to transfer the deposit to my solicitor, it got to 1pm nobody knew anything, they told my solicitor they did not recieve the info, they told my broker they had to re-credit score my application as my husband is not British therefore he is my dependant, anyway at 5 pm they rang my broker and told him that my loan has been withdrawn because they cannot confirm the information that they have, and that's all that they can tell us. The truth is nobody knows what the hell is going on in that company. So basically they messed us around now, I am getting charged interest by the sellers untill I can arrange another mortgage. They left us with no other choice, no time, they gave us their decision at the very last minute, after offering us the loan and then withdrawing it, none of my circumstances have changed, i still do not understand what the hell happened. Sorry for the long winded post, I just wanted some advice, are Abbey allowed to get away with this type of behavior? Can I do something about the way they have messes me around? They have stressed me out so much, it's even worse because I am 3 months pregnant, I now feel like absolute crap, I just can't understand what happened and they won't tell us anything. Thanks!
Last minute considerations? About to depart for European (UK/France/Italy) trip...any suggestions before I leave. cash/credit, air /eurorail travel, foreign customs, documents, food, language, hotel, packing luggage. Things I would never think of or expect. Thanks a bunch!
We had problems on our trip to Costa Rica with Grand Circle Travel, who should we complain to GCT doesn't care We were scheduled to stay in a great Hotel on the beach in Guanacaste Costa Rica. Last minute change we stayed in a hotel across the street from the beach. Hotel on the beach cost $138-175, our new hotel cost $75-85. Ants, fans that did not work, shower drains that did not work are only some of the problems. This was to be the highlight of the trip, 3 nights on the beach in a beautiful hotel, instead, a disaster, a hotel that really should not have been accepted by GCT. They offered my wife and I $400 toward our next trip. I told them to keep it. We have traveled with GCT 9 times, this has been the 3rd time they changed hotels at the last minute, all for the worst. This bait and switch operation has got to stop.

Are there any hotel/motel memberships that cover many different chains? I have to travel frequently and usually last minute. I also cart around a crew of approximately 7 men. We usually have to find a hotel or motel on the road or once we get to town. I heard there was a program that did discounts and also moved your checkout time to exactly 24 hours after you check in at any chain. Just a pipe dream?

What is the best way to save money on a vacation to cancun? I've been to mexico a couple times and have found the travel rates to be highly variable. Is it cheaper to book the hotel and flights at the last minute? Are there any websites that have particularly cheap all-inclusive hotel and flight deals?
Travelling in the back of a van with no seats illegal/stupid? I'm in a band and we have a gig that's about 200 miles away. The plan right now (somewhat last minute) is to travel, with the band we're supporting, in a van that only has 6 seats - that's 6 seats between 10 of us, leaving 4 of us sitting in the back with no seats (highly likely I'll be one of the 4 since the main band own the van). I'm thinking this is completely stupid, but the others don't see a problem - like as if it's a normal thing to do, and I'm sat here considering spending over £100 on travelling and hotel expenses to get myself down there using a more sensible method (quite an expensive gig huh?). Am I overreacting here? Either way my questions are: 1) Is it illegal to be a passenger in the back of a van with no seat? 1b) If so, what are the penalties (for the passenger)? 2) Is this one of those things that's considered 'normal' and "happens all the time"? 3) What would you do in my situation?
How can I get deposits from clients? I am a tattoo artist and sometimes i get requests by clients who want me to travel to their locations. Thank you

What is a nice and affordable ho(s)tel in a central and safe spot in Chicago? I will be spending three days in Chicago in October and I'm looking for an affordable hotel or hostel. As I will be travelling alone, I'd like to stay in a safe and central area of the city. I found out that Hostelling International Chicago is a very cheap option, but I'd prefer a private room, which they don't have. Any other cheap options that you know of? I do see a lot of quite nice hotels which are pretty cheap when booked last minute. Would I be safe to wait until a week or so before I leave? I could always keep Hostelling International as a back-up option. They have 500 beds, should have one left for me... Thanks for any suggestions!
Should I book hotels thru Net early in Waikiki? I am planning of travelling to Honolulu in September and planning to stay in Waikiki for 10 days. September shouldnt be high season for Hawaii right? Should I book the hotels in advance or wait until closer date for last minute book in the internet? Would it make it cheaper? or I would be missing special deals (like 5th nite free) and jeorpadise the availability and perhaps price?? Need some advice please? Thanks! NB: I am on a budget - so probably wont spend more than $150/night. The cheaper the better! ;-) Also, considering some hotel is not what the picture looks like, I am thinking maybe I should just book for 1 nights, then I can see the hotel condition when I get there. What do you think?
what is the best site to find discounted hotels? I'm planning on traveling in the USA, mostly LA and NYC in April/May and I would like to book the hotels at least a couple of weeks in advance, I know some sites are just last minute ones, which is fine if they are cheap/good deals. I've tried Hotwire although it doesn't tell you which hotel it is, has anyone used hotwire? do you pay immediately? It's fine if I know I'm going to get a decent deal. I'm sure there was a site that I can't find now that listed top hotel discounts for the week? I would prefer to be able to click on the hotel and check it out first.
Edinburgh Telford College Travel? I have signed up for Edinburgh Telford College Open Learning Highers. Is Aunt Flo tagging along tomorrow night for the New Year's party festivities? When she visited our house years ago, she arrived twice in 10 years worth of New Year's celebrations. I always hated last minute snags and work-a-rounds. That little problem was taken care of for good. The best was saved for last! POLL: Have a designated driver scheduled >OR< not Traveling >OR< at a hotel >OR< Will risk a DWI because "I can liquor my handle occifer"?
Has anyone used Travel Republic.co.uk? I am thinking of booking a last minute holiday to Floirida with them as they have realy good offers but I'm just wondering if they're cheap for a certain reason? The hotel is nice and the flights are what we want.
economics question plssss help me :'(? Demand, supply and market price - A holiday tour operator, such as Thomson Holidays, will be offering holidays to tourists from the UK to a great variety of resorts and hotels, apartments etc. The range of holidays they each offer is contained in the company’s brochure obtainable from a travel agent. There are a number of such tour operators offering similar packages to UK tourists. - Use demand and supply analysis to examine the factors that will determine the brochure price of a holiday in Cyprus to tourists from the UK. How will the price of a holiday in any year be affected by shifts in demand and supply and explain what might cause such shifts? Holiday Bargains Each year package tour operators offer some cut price holidays through travel agents as ‘ last minute bargain These holidays will be offered at a discount on the price of the same holiday in the original brochure. The original brochure price will reflect the cost and expected demand for holidays in that year. Use demand and supply analysis to explain the rationale for these ‘last minute bargains’.
Cheap Hotel Downtown Chicago-this weekend? Hi there, I am looking for a cheap hotel (under $200) Downtown Chicago, I would prefer the Loop, Magnificent Mile, or Theater District. Any recommendations? Any site that has last-minute deals? (I am traveling this Friday-Saturday) Thanks for the answers, guys, I found a great (brand new, 4-star) hotel for $169. I discovered the trick is to skip travelocity, hotels.com, etc., and go straight to the hotel company source, in this case Marriott.com.
cheap international flights - where do i search? Which are the links i go to to find cheap international travel ? i mean - bucket fares ( whatever they are ) - cheap fars booked in advance - last minute deals - schemes and packages given by airlines or countries from time to time ( for ex - , i got a travellers pass from SA airways ten years back, a sri lankan fight plus hotel pacage 5 years back, a malaysian airline 3 stop deal 2 years back.......) any one shop website hosting links to all these deals ? - anything else ?
Christmas in benidorm? where is the best hotel in benidorm to spend christmas (fun staff and Hotel entertainment) ,but only went there in the Summer .(we stopped at the marina hotel) Also which travel agent is the most reasonable, is it best to wait for last minute offers. I know its a risk to wait too long.
Cheap hotel in Goodyear Arizona? My boyfriend and I would like to go to Goodyear, Arizona for Spring Training with the Cleveland Indians this year. However, he is a college student on a budget, and I'm on quite a small budget, as well. Are there any cheap, but decent, hotels in Goodyear, Arizona or Phoenix? Phoenix is about 30 minutes East of Goodyear, it seems on a map. Thankfully he just turned 21, so that opens the door for more hotels. Last year we went with them to Florida and we only had one choice for a hotel since neither of us were 21+. Luckily it wasn't too bad of an experience. I'm expecting $50-$70 a night. Which sucks. But oh well. I would really like to go towards the cheaper one, though. We went through one of those travel websites last year, and they ended up charging us $10 extra a night at the hotel we stayed at, so I hoped to book this one on our own. So please no suggestions like "Go through expedia" or anything like that. Thanks.
Hey ppl do you think this girl is a nut or a serious "environmentalist"? Funniest travel article I ever read - someone called Karin Andersson travels all the way from London-Bangkok (in Asia) by train to save Co2 (Carbon dioxide) emissions! Here are the statistics: Total cost of going overland (trains, buses, boats, hotels, food, visas and agency fees): £2,282. Cost of a budget flight, one way: roughly £575. Time taken: 22 days. Distance travelled: 13,330km (compared with 9,860km by air). Carbon dioxide expended travelling overland (calculated by Stella Bell at Climate Care): 525.98 kg C02. Carbon dioxide expended flying: 1,443 kg C02. And here's the piece of cake: Far greener than air, and more interesting. Also much more expensive - but Andreasson paid hefty fees for booking at the last minute. She could also have saved money by choosing "hard-class" train seats. http://travel.guardian.co.uk/article/2006/oct/25/travelnews.travelsenvironmentalimpact.environment I have seen plenty of "real travellers" like this! These are the people who are responsible for your high airline ticket prices
A few more questions about Italy.....? In March my mother and I are going to Rome. That's a long way away, but since I'm so excited I'm looking into everything now...and, I don't want to be stuck planning everything last minute. So, here are my questions.... 1) I've been looking at a town called Assisi. It doesn't seem to be that far from Rome. If we wanted to take a day trip there (to experience the Italian countryside), how would we go about doing that? It looks like such a beautiful town (though, all of Italy is beautiful) and I would really love to see it....so, any advice you have about that is appreciated. 2) I looked into renting a villa, but the package we're getting with hotel + flight is much cheaper. What is the best way to get from the air port to the hotel? A cab I'm assuming...but, I've read in travel brochures and things online (which seem determined to scare you into not going) that there are a lot of fake cabs around...that, they'll put your luggage in the trunk and take off before you can even get in the back seat. Or, charge for more than what is appropriate. I'm thinking that we'll tell them where we're going before hand and settle on how much it will cost before we even go (though, I don't want to sound rude!) and one of us (either my mother or I) will be sitting in the cab while the other helps the driver with the luggage....is that being too paranoid? From the sound of these magazines and papers I've read, things like this happens...though, I'm not saying just in Italy (don't get me wrong), but in any big city I assume. 4) What are some foods we should be sure to try? We can't eat out a lot (we're on a budget), so when we do we would like to have something spectacular...though, I'm sure most of it is. I know that real Italian food is nothing like the Italian food we have in America. A friend has told me that while we pay more attention to bulk (such as on a pizza...it's very thick usually and has a lot of toppings), Italians pay more attention to spices and such. So, any direction you can give me on what to eat is helpful...though, I think while there I'll want to try everything....lol, I'll have to resist. 3) Do you have any general advice? I know about the dress codes for churches and stuff like that, I'm aware of pick pockets and scams and all the obvious stuff. Anything else that most people don't seem to be aware of? I'm very excited to see Italy...I've wanted to go for years now. Thank you for the help! oops, I just noticed question 4 came before question 3. lol, oops....
Lodging in Disneyland, CA? Do anyone have any information on descent hotel names near Disneyland? And also if you have some site that offer the last minute deals.... We are family travelling with 2 kids, 17 yr and 9 yr. Thanks guys We are going this weekend... I guess.
Heathrow strike HELP!? Today potential strikes were announced at UK Airports, including on the date of my departure to Japan, 17th January. I then tried to re-arrange my flight, but was told by travel agent and airline that this wasnt possible. I dont know what to do. The airline say they wont know if my flight is cancelled perhaps even on the day before my holiday! That isnt good enough! I would then have to cancel my hotels, train journeys etc at the last minute costing me hundreds of pounds in penalties, and causing immense stress and disruption Please please please, is there any way out of this awful trap? Ideally Id like to rearrange to flight now, or cancel it, again, my airline/travel agent insist I cant do this without losing ALL my money. Please help!
Need current info on Staybridge Suites on I-Drive? Planning a last minute dash to FL this weekend. Looking at Staybridge Suites and one of their 2 bedroom suites as potential acommodations. Most of the travel sites I've checked have slammed the place for being either under construction or in need of it! To be fair, the newest comment was posted last September. Any locals, or recent guests at this hotel, especially in one of the 2 bedroom suites care to comment. Quick! Thanks
Does anyone know how to find house sitting jobs and or know of any cheap accommodations in Orange County, CA? Orange County, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Beach Area... I reside in New York State. I am an Art Teacher and work at the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center in Niagara Falls, NY. I would be traveling with a friend to Orange County. My friend is a Sociology Professor in Niagara Falls, NY. We both reside in New York State and have been to Orange County, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Beach area a number of times. My sister and her husband live in Aliso Viejo and have resided there for about eight years or so. I thought I should mention that I do not house sit for a profession, but I would be seeking to house sit because of this particular situation. I have a very dear brother in-law who lives in Orange County and has been battling Melanoma for over five years. Unfortunately, he has taken a turn for the worse and we know that we will have to be coming out to your area at some point. It could be very soon. We would most likely be available for a week or so when the time comes. However, under these circumstances we do not have a date for when we will have to be traveling to Aliso Viejo. But, I thought that perhaps I would check into house sitting as an alternative to staying in a hotel when the time comes. I thought I could be providing a service in exchange for a home to stay in while I'm in California. This would probably be "a last minute situation" but, I would be more than willing to house sit if our times correspond. So, I encourage anyone to keep me posted about any potential dates that service may be required for house sitting over the next couple of weeks or months I am very responsible I live in and own my own home, I have also restored a number of homes in my area. So, I am very good at taking care of a home. The home I reside in is a Victorian that has five bedrooms and three floors, I am responsible for the cleaning and general up keep. My partner and long time spouse and I have both worked on restoring homes and are currently doing some renovation to the home we currently reside in. My friend is a home owner as well, is very responsible and actively supports the arts and many arts organizations. We are both world travelers and would most assuredly take good and proper care of your home. We are both animal lovers as well. Thank you...
what is cheaper, booking a hotel through internet at special fares, or walking into one on the night you need? I have travelled and do travel quite extensively, normally booking most things in advance, and through the internet. I know however that there are also special prices and offers for last minute "takers" for the night... meaning that a room that is left unsold for the night might be offered at a cheaper rate, just to fill it. this has happened to me before, but of course it means that you must take the risk of walking into fully booked hotels...and search a bit untill you find one with an available room. my question is...is this generally true in ireland? (belfast specifically)..and would it be cheaper than booking through internet? I'm there for a weekend and am not sure I'll need the hotel at all..which us why I'm not convinced I should book online...but I will, if the above should not be true.. I hope all of the above makes sense to someone with a clever answer ready :P
Traveling to Myrtle Beach SC? If I am traveling to Myrtle Beach SC and I made reservations for a hotel and a friend decides to come with me at the last minute will they ask for his/her ID too?
